Fantastic news for the Oldland Mill volunteers!  At the English Heritage Angel Awards Ceremony, held at the Palace Theatre, London, on Monday evening 3 November, volunteers from Oldland Mill were rewarded for their thirty years of  hard work when Andrew Lloyd Webber, on behalf of English Heritage, presented retiring Chairman, Professor Fred Maillardet and Technical Adviser, Philip Hicks with the “People’s Favourite” award from sixteen shortlisted finalists.   The award was received to “thunderous applause” from dozens of their volunteers in the audience.  Many thanks to all of you who voted for Oldland Mill, enabling the scale of the volunteers’ achievement to receive such high recognition.  Oldland Mill is the first windmill to be honoured with an Angel Award. In the words of Andrew Lloyd Webber, this pays tribute to the “army of volunteers” over many generations who worked on the mill.

May I take this opportunity, on behalf of all the volunteers at Oldland Mill, to wish you a very happy Christmas and a peaceful and healthy New Year?  We look forward to seeing you in 2015 at the award-winning mill!
