OPEN DAYS FOR 2010

Open Days in 2010 - EVENT DAYS 11 am to 4 pm

Report on our Sunday 2nd May open day The day was the wettest Event Day we've encountered at Oldland since we commenced opening the mill to the public, with no let up in the rain throughout the day. The new marquee was well and truly christened but there was not enough wind to turn the sweeps. A total of six Morris Sides braved the elements, some members managing to hold an umbrella as well as their traditional sticks! However, the rain did not stop Pete the Magician putting on two more of his superb shows for the children. A steady trickle of hardy supporters took advantage of the shuttle bus from the Thatched Inn to get to the mill. Their generous donations were probably largely in sympathy for the 'drowned rats' manning the various stalls! However, we covered our costs and managed to raise sufficient income to cover a couple of months insurance on the mill.

Sunday 18th July 11 am - 4 pm Wildlife theme - to include snail racing, splat the rat, making of peg dragonflies and butterflies (by children), themed children's competitions. Plus the usual plant sales, books, face painting, Pete the Magician, gifts, tombola and refreshments Courtesy shuttle bus from Thatched Inn - no parking at mill Mill tours - sweeps turning, weather permitting. NOTE : Road Closure on Sunday 18 July between 9.00am & 7.00pm Mid Sussex District Council are planning resurfacing work on Keymer Road between the railway bridge and Grand Avenue . Please take account of this to avoid disappointment in your visit to the Mill on this day.

Sunday 19th September

On these days the mill will be open and run if weather permits. Refreshments, mill gifts and memorabilia will be available, together with attractions and other activities.

There is no car parking available near the Mill. A free shuttle bus will be provided (on the above dates only) every 20 minutes from The Thatched Inn, Ockley Lane

Open Days in 2010 - OTHER DAYS 2 pm to 5 pm

Sunday 4th April

Saturday 8th & Sunday 9th May  [National Mills Weekend]

Sunday 6th June

Sunday 1st August

Sunday 3rd October

On these dates the Mill will be open and run if weather permits. Refreshments, mill gifts and memorabilia will be available for sale. There is no car parking available near the mill. No shuttle bus will be available so visitors should approach the mill on foot.
